Ludi Romani

In an era of advanced technology, Ludi Romani - the International Festival of Roman civilization and culture, aims to recreate the world of Imperial Rome.
The event aims to recreate a slice of Roman life, highlighting the productive activities (officinae and tabernae), moments of entertainment (music, dance, theatre), rules and aspects of military life (military exercises and techniques).
The Ludi Romani, or Roman Games, are inspired by a religious festival held, normally on September, in ancient Rome in honour of Jupiter.
Many are the scheduled events: conferences and debates, held by distinguished academics and scholars of Roman history, which will address different topics focusing on the value of multiculturalism in the Roman Empire, book launches with authors of historical novels.
A space is dedicated to children's learning with playful workshops to teach them Roman writing, how to prepare a meal, or how to spend a day in ancient Rome among the market stalls, in a church or in a temple court.
The festival runs four days: two dedicated to the conferences and two to the reconstruction of Roma life.
The event is being held in two different locations: the Museum of Roman Civilization in the EUR district and the adjacent gardens in Piazzale Benito Juarez.
